This Saturday, February 1, hundreds of Austin bakers, bloggers, businesses, and consumers will unite for “Austin Bakes for Australia,” a citywide bake sale fundraising event to help the people and wildlife impacted by the recent wildfires in Australia. 100% of proceeds from Austin Bakes for Australia are given to GlobalGiving’s Australian Wildfires Relief Fund.

Baked goods will include Aussie and wildlife themed treats, cookies of all kinds, savory pastries and more! Among the homemade offerings will be locally sourced, vegan and gluten-free items. In addition, customers may purchase gourmet pastries that have been donated by some of Austin’s finest professional bakers.

Charity Beneficiary: Global Giving Australian Wildfires Relief Fund
All funds raised at the bake sale will go to the GlobalGiving Australian Wildfires Relief fund, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization supporting rescue and relief efforts for people and animals affected by the Australia wildfires. Shoppers can donate via cash or check at each of Austin Bakes’ nine physical sales, or securely via credit card through through Austin Bakes for Australia’s online giving page.
How to Volunteer for Austin Bakes for Australia
A team of foodies, bloggers, Instagrammers and local businesses is organizing Austin Bakes for Australia. Already there are nearly 200 bakers signed up for the cause! Those interested in providing baked goods and/or volunteering to help with the bake sales should sign up at http://www.austinbakes.com/signup. We will be accepting new bakers and volunteers through Friday morning, January 30th.
Other Ways to Get Involved
Besides shopping the sale, baking for the sale or volunteering on Saturday, there are other ways to support!
- RSVP for the Austin Bakes for Australia Facebook Event and share with your social networks.
- Purchase an Austin Bakes t-shirt. It won’t arrive until after the sale, but this way you’ll be ready for the next one AND support the Wildfires Relief Fund
- Raise a glass! Tito’s Vokda is generously donating $1 from each Tito’s and Soda sold at all 3 of the Dunlap Rainey bars (Lustre Pearl, Clive, Container Bar) during the bake sale from 11AM-2PM this Saturday, February 1st.
