Thanks to all of you, the bake sale was a smashing success!

And thanks to our fearless leader, Kathryn, for doing such a bang up job of organizing and keeping us on track!

We’d love to get all the volunteers and sponsors together for a celebratory meet up. If you’re around this Wednesday, April 6th, please come out to the Triangle Farmers’ Market. We’ll be hanging out on the green space, munching on Bola Pizza, and sipping a beer.

Join us and bring your favorite beverage and a blanket or chair.Β We’ll be at the market from 5-7pm and we hope to see you all there!

About franishnonspeaker

Salut! Franish Nonspeaker refers to my absolute lack of an ear for languages. Case in point- I speak French with a Spanish accent. And, I use the term "speak" loosely. I attempted to learn French because I spent 5 weeks in Paris to attend Le Cordon Bleu's Patisserie Program. Mostly, I learned that I picked up more Spanish than I thought when I studied in Madrid in college. I have a terrible habit of forgetting a French term and subbing Spanish. I started this blog to chronicle my adventures in Paris and found I really enjoyed writing. I'm now back in Austin and still baking (and writing) away.

  1. Thank you to all those who baked goods and volunteered for Japan relief. I ended up going to the shops at Mira Vista twice…once earlier in the day and then at the end…donating $140 for AmeriCares; picking up bake goods that were absolutely priceless; and learning about bakers that I didn’t know existed (thanks to everyone who included their web info on their packaging). I hope there are more of these fundraising events. And I hope the volunteers encourage everyone who attends future events to empty their wallets and crack open their checkbooks. The bake goods were OUTSTANDING. The charity chosen for this event directs 98% towards actual programs and has already airlifted over $500K of emergency medical supplies to Tohoku University in Sendai. I applaud everyone who participated in this event. Thank you! γŠη–²γ‚Œζ§˜γ§γ—γŸ

    • Thank you so much for all the kind words AND for your generous support for AmeriCares work in Japan, Lauren! πŸ˜€

  2. Kathryn:

You were the amazing leader of the Austin Bakes for Japan event & it was a pleasure to work with you and the other ladies! It is incredible that this event was organized & held in less than 30 days with such success! I was honored to be part of such an event & love that our food community pulled together to help another community in need!

    • Thanks, Rachelle. We had a huge team of awesome volunteers who came together to make the event such a big success. It was a great thing on Saturday seeing each site running smoothly and fundraising up a storm under the excellent leadership of our core group. πŸ™‚ Congrats to you and your crew for the success of the east side and thank you!!!
